Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SEMA4C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 16 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SEMA4C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where SEMA4C RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SEMA4C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, THCA, and HNSC are the cancer types where SEMA4C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
