Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SEMA3A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SEMA3A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SEMA3A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SEMA3A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, HNSC, and LUAD are the cancer types where SEMA3A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
