Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SELENOI RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SELENOI’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SELENOI RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SELENOI is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, LUAD, and HNSC are the cancer types where SELENOI tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
