Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SDS RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SDS’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where SDS RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SDS is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LIHC and CHOL show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, KIRP, and HNSC are the cancer types where SDS tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
