Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SCN8A RNA is linked to patient survival in 26 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SCN8A data layer compared with 8 for mutation status and 1 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in mesothelioma (MESO), where higher SCN8A RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SCN8A expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UVM and PAAD show a favorable association.
MESO, UVM, and PAAD are the cancer types where SCN8A RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
