Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SCN5A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SCN5A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where SCN5A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SCN5A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BRCA, LUSC, and LUAD are the cancer types where SCN5A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
