Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SCN2A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SCN2A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where SCN2A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SCN2A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, KICH, and BRCA are the cancer types where SCN2A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
