Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RPL39P36 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RPL39P36’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where RPL39P36 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RPL39P36 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and PAAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, LIHC, and KIRC are the cancer types where RPL39P36 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
