Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RPL39L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RPL39L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where RPL39L RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RPL39L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, LUSC, and HNSC are the cancer types where RPL39L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
