Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RPL23AP83 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RPL23AP83’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where RPL23AP83 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RPL23AP83 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as PAAD and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, PAAD, and KIRP are the cancer types where RPL23AP83 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
