Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU5A-8P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 4 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU5A-8P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD), where RNU5A-8P RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU5A-8P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

STAD, THCA, and COAD are the cancer types where RNU5A-8P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
