Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PURA RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PURA’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where PURA RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PURA is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, UCEC, and LUSC are the cancer types where PURA tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
