Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PTPRO RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PTPRO’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where PTPRO RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PTPRO is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, HNSC, and THCA are the cancer types where PTPRO tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
