Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PTPRB RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PTPRB’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where PTPRB RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PTPRB is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, KIRP, and KICH are the cancer types where PTPRB tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
