Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PRSS55 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PRSS55’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where PRSS55 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PRSS55 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRP and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, BRCA, and KICH are the cancer types where PRSS55 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
