Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PRKAR2A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PRKAR2A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where PRKAR2A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PRKAR2A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LIHC, and THCA are the cancer types where PRKAR2A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
