Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PMEL RNA is linked to patient survival in 17 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated PMEL data layer compared with 6 for mutation status.
The strongest signal is observed in uveal melanoma (UVM), where higher PMEL RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated PMEL expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UVM and MESO show a favorable association.
UVM, LGG, and MESO are the cancer types where PMEL RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
