Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PMEL Mutation is linked to patient survival in 6 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated PMEL data layer compared with 17 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where higher PMEL Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated PMEL expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC and SKCM show a favorable association.
HNSC, SCLC, and UCEC are the cancer types where PMEL Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
