Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PLA2G2A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PLA2G2A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where PLA2G2A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PLA2G2A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as HNSC and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

HNSC, BLCA, and UCEC are the cancer types where PLA2G2A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
