Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PIK3R5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PIK3R5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where PIK3R5 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PIK3R5 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LUAD, and KIRP are the cancer types where PIK3R5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
