Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PHGDH mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 3 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated PHGDH data layer compared with 24 for mass-spec protein and 10 for mutation status.
The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where higher PHGDH mass-spec protein is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated PHGDH expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as COAD show a favorable association.
COAD, LUAD, and PDAC are the cancer types where PHGDH mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
