Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PGLS Mutation is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated PGLS data layer compared with 23 for mass-spec protein and 6 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), where higher PGLS Mutation is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated PGLS expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as GBM show a favorable association.
SKCM, BRCA, and UCEC are the cancer types where PGLS Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
