Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PBX4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PBX4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where PBX4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PBX4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, COAD, and KIRC are the cancer types where PBX4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
