Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OR5E1P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OR5E1P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where OR5E1P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OR5E1P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, LUAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where OR5E1P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
