Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OR5BD1P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OR5BD1P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where OR5BD1P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OR5BD1P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, KIRC, and BRCA are the cancer types where OR5BD1P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
