Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OR1F12 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OR1F12’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where OR1F12 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OR1F12 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, THCA, and KIRP are the cancer types where OR1F12 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
