Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OPTC RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OPTC’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where OPTC RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OPTC is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and STAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, STAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where OPTC tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
