Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NUMBL RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NUMBL’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where NUMBL RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NUMBL is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRP, HNSC, and LUAD are the cancer types where NUMBL tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
