Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NRN1L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NRN1L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where NRN1L RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NRN1L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUSC, KIRC, and KICH are the cancer types where NRN1L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
