Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NOL4L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NOL4L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where NOL4L RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NOL4L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
HNSC, THCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where NOL4L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
