Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NCL RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NCL’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD), where NCL RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NCL is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
STAD, COAD, and HNSC are the cancer types where NCL tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
