Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NCALD RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NCALD’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where NCALD RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NCALD is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BLCA, LUAD, and LUSC are the cancer types where NCALD tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
