Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NAT8L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NAT8L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where NAT8L RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NAT8L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KIRP, and THCA are the cancer types where NAT8L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
