Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MTRF1LP2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MTRF1LP2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where MTRF1LP2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MTRF1LP2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUSC, HNSC, and BRCA are the cancer types where MTRF1LP2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
