Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MTND4P20 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MTND4P20’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where MTND4P20 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MTND4P20 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LIHC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, KICH, and KIRP are the cancer types where MTND4P20 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
