Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MTHFD2L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MTHFD2L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MTHFD2L RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MTHFD2L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and LIHC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LIHC, and HNSC are the cancer types where MTHFD2L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
