Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT1F RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MT1F’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MT1F RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MT1F is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, HNSC, and KICH are the cancer types where MT1F tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
