Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-TV RNA is linked to patient survival in 17 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-TV data layer.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher MT-TV RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-TV expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as ACC and KICH show a favorable association.

KIRC, LIHC, and OV are the cancer types where MT-TV RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
