Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-ND3 RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-ND3 data layer compared with 3 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where higher MT-ND3 RNA is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-ND3 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as KIRP and LUSC show a favorable association.

KIRP, LUSC, and THYM are the cancer types where MT-ND3 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
