Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-ND1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-ND1 data layer compared with 6 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), where higher MT-ND1 RNA is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-ND1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as BRCA and PAAD show a favorable association.

SKCM, BRCA, and PAAD are the cancer types where MT-ND1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
