Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-ND1 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 6 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated MT-ND1 data layer compared with 22 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC), where higher MT-ND1 mass-spec protein is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-ND1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and GBM show a favorable association.

LSCC, CCRCC, and COAD are the cancer types where MT-ND1 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
