Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-CO2 RNA is linked to patient survival in 27 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-CO2 data layer compared with 4 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), where higher MT-CO2 RNA is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-CO2 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as ACC and PAAD show a favorable association.

ACC, PAAD, and SKCM are the cancer types where MT-CO2 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
