Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-CO2 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 4 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated MT-CO2 data layer compared with 27 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC), where higher MT-CO2 mass-spec protein is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-CO2 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and GBM show a favorable association.

CCRCC, GBM, and PDAC are the cancer types where MT-CO2 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
