Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MS4A4A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MS4A4A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MS4A4A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MS4A4A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LUAD, and COAD are the cancer types where MS4A4A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
