Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MRPL42P4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MRPL42P4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MRPL42P4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MRPL42P4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, STAD, and HNSC are the cancer types where MRPL42P4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
