Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MRPL34 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MRPL34’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MRPL34 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MRPL34 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LUAD, and KIRP are the cancer types where MRPL34 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
