Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR648 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR648’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where MIR648 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR648 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BRCA, KIRP, and KIRC are the cancer types where MIR648 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
