Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR541 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR541’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where MIR541 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR541 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BRCA, LUAD, and LUSC are the cancer types where MIR541 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
