Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR499A RNA is linked to patient survival in 26 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MIR499A data layer.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher MIR499A RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MIR499A expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM and UCS show a favorable association.
KIRC, SKCM, and COAD are the cancer types where MIR499A RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
