Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR33A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 1 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR33A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where MIR33A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR33A is over-expressed in tumor.
KICH are the cancer types where MIR33A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
